JuJitsu Online - Ian Woolston

About JuJitsu Online

Throughout my training I have always been looking for good reference material, somewhere I could go to find the moves I was looking for, either within the normal syllabus or moves from others in normal training or on courses. It was suggested I do some of my own and so we are here now, a resource for me, that we can now look to develop and hopefully became a site useful to many.

About Me

My name is Ian Woolston, I’m a senior instructor in JuJitsu and after my mentor John Hart am Mr Enso Ryu.

I’ve been training in the Martial Arts now for over 14 years and am a 4th Dan Black Belt in JuJitsu, over the years I’ve been really fortunate and have had the opportunity to train with some really excellent martial artists from all sorts of martial arts backgrounds, JuJitsu/Aikido/Judo/Kung Fu/Pencak Silat/Wing Chun and many more.

I started teaching Junior and Senior sessions back in 1999 in Scarborough, UK. Personally I find it incredibly stimulating teaching people who want to learn and also learning from them, every time you do a move, you realise something else about it. When I first started I was younger, fitter and stronger, these days I find I am still doing the same moves but now I am finding easier yet more technical ways of doing the same move and am really starting to understand the ‘Gentle’ side of the art more, using no force to acomplish the same things.

Helping people to develop into something new, seeing people’s confidence and abilities grow both on and off the mat as a result of things you have shown them is a great feeling, seeing your students receive their Black Belt, that is something it’s hard to describe, it was a better feeling that than receiving my own Black Belt in some ways.

Anyway, that’s me, and I hope you enjoy the site and enjoy the art. Remember, a bad instructor can make a good art bad. If you’re interested go and see them, try them out and if you find a bad one, please, don’t let it put you off.
